Sayonara 2010! Welcome 2011

Korea Actor and Singer, Park Yong Ha, 32, shocked the media with his sudden death. He was found dead in Seoul Nonhyundong on the 30th (KST), hanging lifeless from a camcorder-charging cable at his own house. According to police, Park Yong Ha was discovered dead at around 5:30 AM by his mother. The cause of death is likely suicide, but further details are still under wraps. Although this news was just announced, ‘Park Yong Ha’ immediately took the number one spot on Naver and other search engines across Korea.

The well-known actor and singer, Park Yong Ha, is well-known for his roles in many hit dramas, including Winter Sonata, Men’s Story and On Air. Beside his successful drama career, Park Yong Ha is also quite famous in Japan as well, with several Japanese single albums. He was also set to play the lead role in Love Song, an upcoming Korean drama adaptation of the Chinese movie, Comrades: Almost a Love Story (甜蜜蜜) alongside Yoon Eun Hye. Yet his early departure still left his fans with tears at his peak of his career.

This two movies premieres at the third quarter of the year 2010, August, yet, hand in hand, this two movies was recommended in the local radio station. The lack of solid plot is the failure for the two films.

Whether you are Twilight fans or a vampire movie haters, this comedy film, Vampires suck is a spoof film directed by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer. It stars Matt Lanter, Chris Riggi, Jenn Proske, Anneliese van der Pol, and Ken Jeong. Vampires Suck is a comedy, spoof film that ridicules other film genres or films, contains sarcasm, stereotyping and mocking of well-known films or scenes from them.

My conclusion, it is a waste of time and money if you had watched on a Saturday midnight.

Another movie pick of the month of August, is definitely Haunted Changi, the photographic aspects of the film, in my opinion was not well executed - the decrepit state that Old Changi Hospital was not captured beautifully yet with many flaws in many of the scenes (especially the use of time lapse as a visual passage of time).

O. S. :The impression was deep, a month whereby time and money can be utilised usefully on other stuff but was wasted on one of the movies.
Well, its a good try to the people who tried to bring good movies, yet, let's hope the crew can bring different perspectives to our thoughts in 2011 with other worth watching production.

Prince of Love Ballads, Jeff Chang, with his "Jeff Chang Happiness Choice World Tour", Queen Diva, Coco Lee, with her "East2 West World Tour Concert" and ever-stylish diva, Elva Hsiao with her comeback concert at Indoor Stadium " Elva Hsiao WOW World Tour" once again won Singapore fans with 3 best concerts in 2010. Whether it is rock, love ballads, hip-pop, dance, folk tracks, Elva Hsiao, Coco Lee, Jeff Chang had won fans from all ages with their fast selling concert tickets.

Other concerts hit the ticket offices and received thumb ups for the artistes performance include:

Newcomer, Yen-J, with his debut album, Thanks For Your Greatness, is a multi-talent, singer, songwriter, composer, producer, arranger, instrument player etc. All-round musician who had just embarked on his road to jazz music. He has yet to display his versatility in his debut album consisting 11 self-written songs with equal blend in of rock, jazz, hip-hop, folk musical elements when compared with David Tao, Lee-Hom.

Well, probably music can be meaningless, yet, his main plugs include, "Love is Curry" and "Thanks for your Greatness" is all right but fail to prove his abilities and his powerful vocal as a newcomer.

O.S. As one of the newcomers in Singapore Hits Award 2010, hope this multi-talent, Yen-J knows his direction in music.

With a smaller Mando-pop music industry and weak album sales, he needs to get his direction right, if not, he might end up with two albums with weak impression.

Hebe, best known as one-third of Taiwan top idol group, S.H.E had released her long-awaiting solo album, To Hebe, in September 2010. Though her solo album was a good-try and proved her maturity as a solo performer yet, it was not good enough to give a thumb up for the overall direction of the album. Her first single, Love, was playing about with the lyrics starting with "You love me, I love him, He love her, She love him"...which does not impress many fans with Hebe's weak and poor vocal presentation.

O.S. This is not the Hebe I was expecting. Probably, I had a higher expectation for her solo album, well, hopefully her second hit will have more dance, ballad and rock tunes.

Newcomer, Weibird Wei, labelled as the 2010 Taiwan singer-songwriter won the first place in a TV talent show in 2007, yet, lack of opportunity was given a slow launch to pop stardom. Choosing to concentrate on his studies while composing for other singers and performing in pubs. For the past 3 years, he had garnered considerable popularity online with his songwriting publishes. His first single, Waiting Slowly, which kept repeating at the chorus is simply irritating, lack sincerity and demoralising.

O.S. I just hope the representing label of Weibird Wei spend more effort on marketing this composer if not, it will be another one hit wonder.

Jaycee Chan, known as Jacky Chan's son, made a comeback with a new Mando-pop album, Luan (translate in Chinese as "Chaos." Trying hard to share his insight of life for the five years, choas is the order of his life. With his hit album in 2004, this album packs a total of 18 tracks which most are penned and composed by Jaycee himself and not forgetting Singapore talent musician, Eric Ng. The main plugs like like the rock tune " Loyal", the ballas " Feigned Move" and "As If Nothing Happened" do impress fans with his bold attempt but overall, his hit album in 2004 had deeper impact till now.

O.S. Hope this try-out Mando-pop album will not be another five years long wait for the next album.

Well, as the market is not doing well, Jaycee can make a hit with more movies roles, instead of music, as this album has not reflected well in sales figure due to a weak marketing strategy across Asia, probably. Overall, a good try yet not impressive enough.

Sometimes the lack of promotion for an album can also bring impressive sales, yet, often not all singers can do so, unless you have a unbeatable status in the Mandarin pop market.

Jacky Cheung, the Heavenly King of Hongkong Pop Industry once again proved his abilities and created remarkable album sales despite the shrinking market pie of mandarin pop market due to downloads. Jacky Cheung, Private Corner Album is a Canto-pop album, which had won the hearts of fans in Singapore and Hongkong which topped the charts as the Top 10 most selling album of the year 2010.

Crossing over to Universal Music, Jane Zhang, the diva that reign the hearts of many fans within 3 years of her singing career, produced a remarkable album which had lead her to open new market in the region and award-winning singles, If this is love, and Can't do it featuring Da Mouth top the charts in Taiwan, Malaysia and Hongkong Leading Radio Station and MTV Channel.

Lin Yu Chun, Nicknamed "Little Fatty", Taiwan singing sensation took part in the One Million Star competition by storm in April 2010 with his mind-blowing rendition of Dolly Parton's " I will Always Love You." His huge buzz online made him an international celebrity overnight earning him compassion to Susan Boyle. The portly 24 year old with a soprano pitch has signed with major record giant, Sony Music, and have his formal debut within months.

His debut album, "It's My Time" features hit single " I Will Always Love You" is recorded live with an orchestra, evergreen classic " Amazing Grace" " Under Your Wings, Mariah Carey's "Hero" and Celine Dion 's 'My Heart Will Go On" are simply remarkable.

Sodagreen, Taiwan's popular indie band made their second foray into the Taipei Arena in September 2009 for two Daylight Fever concerts. A year later, eleven tracks from the concert in Sodagreen anticipated seventh album. The live album which comes with 3 bonus new songs include titular song, Once in a Lifetime, conveying one's journey in love and the loneliness, sensitivity he or she experiences in life. This single, Once in a Lifetime album, is embraced with love, tenderness, completed with deserving hype to every lonely music seeker.

Show Luo, is definitely the trendsetting Taiwan pop idol. He showed us the foremost in fashion with his 2010 album, Luo Sheng Men, inspired by Rashomon, is the stylish dance king's seven solo album after one year ago album, Trendy Man. With idol dram, " Hi, My Sweetheart co-starring Rainie Yang, the hit tracks "Love Crazy Head", "In Your Eyes", " Love Doesn't Come Alone" and "Used To It" are award-winning tracks in major music Taiwan, China, Singapore and Malaysia Radio Stations.

This album is also 2010 Best Selling Album of the Year in Taiwan.

Whether are you a trend-follower, or trend-Creator, movies are meant to give us inspiration whenever we 're lack of, in down-turn of our life, laughter, to cheer us up when people put us down. The five movies just simply brighten me up and inspire me even till up. Definitely worth at least 4 pop corns out of 5.

Here are my six choices for the year 2010:
Despicable Me
Sex and The City 2
The Shrek - Forever and After
The Toy Story 3
The Social Network
The Rapunzel - A Tangled Tale
