Year 2011 Ended

Year 2011 is indeed a better year than Yr 2010.

I have survived from all odds, challenges, opportunities and even the kind of people who I do not wish to face at different places.

Gain and knew friends of the same interest within the years which also redefine the network and circle of friends which I used to hang-out with.
Yet 2 political elections let me realise, some people are just too rigid and stubborn-minded, and if you are different from them in terms of ideology, well, its better to keep a safe distance to avoid angry moments.

Best friends do not exist, as the older you are, people are always thinking of their own interest than others. (Others before self.. has extincted)

My accomplishment for FY2011:

1. Undergo and survive a surgery for my lower jaw in March which took me 2 months to recover.
2. Academic results in Late May semester was good, which justify the fact that if I work hard, I will be able to score well for exam.

Accomplish 4 marathon and a charity run

1. Sundown Marathon (21km)
2. Yellow Ribbon Prison Marathon (10km in Aug)
3. Safra Run (10Km in Sep)
4. 1st Happy Feet Slippers Race (Oct)
5. Standard Chartered Marathon (42.195km in Dec)

The Movies in November

One of my sources of inspiration is watching a favourite movie, enjoying a medium Coca Cola and let the story tellers and illustrators creative thoughts flows.

To me, watching an animated film is an safe move to avoid disappointment.

1st Movie - Happy Feet 2

Immersed in the world of lovely penguins, The Happy Feet 2, is back to rock our world with adorable characters and refreshing, heart-warming songs. With the magnificent landscape of Antarctica in 3D, Mumble, the Master of Tap, has a problem as his tiny son, Erik is choreophobic. Reluctant to dance and sing with the gang, Erik runs away and encounters The Mighty Sven, a penguin that can FLY!

Mumble has no hope of competing with this charismatic new role model. But things get worse when their world is shaken by powerful forces. Erik learns from his Dad's 'Guts and Grit" as Mumble brings together the penguin nations and all manner of fabulous creatures including Tuny Krill, Giant Elephant Seals to restore things right.

2nd Movie - You are the apple of my Eye (Chinese Film)

Regrets we do have.

Love at the first sight, we do experience in our life.

These two themes, love and regrets have touched the hearts of my movie lovers for the past 1 month. With posting of the OST of "You are the apple of my Eye", and the "Must Watch" postings, which sort of influence my decision to watch a Chinese film out of the blue.

Storyline and setting hilariously portrayed the "good old times" we used to have, probably trying hard to date an ideal girl, skipping school, and the fond memories that is hardly remembered thus it is a right strategy and the success of this movie.

I will not be surprise if this is one of the most selling Chinese films in Singapore for FY2011.

3 months!

1.02am, Friday, 18 Nov 2011, Windy
I had almost forgot about this little space that I have.
I had been busy earlier on, or should I say, I had been busy all the while.
But I do question why am so busy?
For myself, others or because of no choice, or because the chance of all events having at the same time?
I do not have answer myself.
Probably, I had been overloaded with many commitments which I should not.
Well, I do regret on sometimes on certain things if I do not do well, thus, when opportunity comes, I do try my best to strike my best putting effort to prove that people have not trust the wrong person to do the right things.
Well, I think this 1st paper, I am not well-prepared.
Blame it on the reservist enlistment which I had spent one day at camp to clear the reservist status which it is due to system error.
Blame on the fact that heavy commitment with YEC.
Blame it on my poor time management.
Blame it on the fact that the work load is unmanageable which I had hardly time to read my textbook.
Blame it on myself, as I am the source of the cause of things happening on me!
Well, as I finish this last sentence to vent our the little frustration at this little space that belong to me, I make sure, I do pull myself up as quickly as possible, to do well in my exam ( the last paper).
After so many setback in 2009, and pick myself and believing myself again in 2000, and after the operation in mid 2011, a new beginning, yet, when looking back at all these incident, people I had encountered, whether are they true to their self or to me, it does not matter.
What it really matter is: at least these encounters had lead me to know what I do want in life, hopefully.
For the time being, I will say sayonara to this little heaven which I almost forgot.

The month of August

The reason why I had decided to name this post "The month of August" is because as the blogger and owner of "Jeff Space", I had hardly spend quality time to share things, places, music or even movies that inspire me lately.

Well, thanks for my regular viewers who do drop me a note to remind me that its time to update the blog which I used to be rather active writing.

The month of August was a busy month. I had not failed to continue to "impress" or "inspire"people with my artwork and design which I hope one day more people will at least have a smile on their faces to the little things I tried and put in effort to do.

Though these months are tough, but in a positive note, these are standards for a more important role in future. I hope I am well, and continue to have the synergy to persevere in things I used to believe in.

I realise the fact, I may make a wrong choice sometimes but if I had to live with it, I will try my very best to make a little difference to all the opportunities instead of calling them "problems."

July Movie of the Month_Larry Crowne

Larry Crowne - the crowne with an letter e!
This is one interesting line that I had remembered how Larry Crowne wants others to know his name.

Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts reunite for a dramatic comedy about how the hard knocks from today's recession inspire one everyday guy to undergo a personal reinvention: Larry Crowne.

Until he was downsized, affable, amiable Larry Crowne (Tom Hanks) was a superstar team leader at the big-box company where he's worked since his time in the Navy. Underwater on his mortgage and unclear on what to do with his suddenly free days, Larry heads to his local college to start over.

There he becomes part of a colorful community of outcasts, also-rans and the overlooked all trying to find a better future for themselves…often moving around town in a herd of scooters. In his public-speaking class, Larry develops an unexpected crush on his teacher Mercedes Tainot (Roberts), who has lost as much passion for teaching as she has for her husband.

The simple guy who has every reason to think his life has stalled will come to learn an unexpected lesson: when you think everything worth having has passed you by, you just might discover your reason to live.

Personal Rating:
3.8 out of 5
Watch it! It's defnitely an awesome movie for the month or even for the year! For those, who are like me, lost my "sense" of direction yet this movie has re-defined the importance of everyone in his life! We might even be in Larry Crowne 's role when our life is at 40s.

Starring: Tom Hanks, Julie Roberts, Bryan Cranston

Sun-day temporary left!

I had been busy lately not for myself, but its for others.
The first week of May was supposed to be focusing on my preparing on my studies, but it seems like I can't as there is a change in plan for the election and the candidate that is supposed to represent the constituency.

Well, is it planned or just that it is a process to be learnt from a long journey?

I don't know, this election is seriously lead to people of both different sides, one is a supporter of the ruling party, the other is the opposition and the other is total "none of my business."

But yesterday (14 May 2011), I had watched the Show Luo Encore Concert at Indoor Stadium, it was supposed to be a happy occasion, yet the entire concert, the partner whom we had decided to get the tickets during April and had decided to happy enjoyed the concert was not a good experience at all. There was little interaction, I don't know why? Probably he is troubled or because we had different belief and views.

Second, the group which I surpised to know that they went for bowling, well, I was disappointed but the fact that I was not called or asked to come, well, probably they think that I am busy with something related community service on Friday. Well, assume to be busy?!
Anyway, it's all right, life can be be great without me.

Third, after the concert, I was supposed to have dinner, it was unplanned to meet another common friend of ours, however, he drove us to a food centre to have dinner. Well, its seem that the 2 are not happy, thus, instead of happily had my dinner, there are little conversation and interaction, well, its all right. I 'll rather be quiet.

The part I was annoyed is that, my own schedule and things that I had been doing lately had to be updated by someone who seems to act as though he knows me well. As the fact that, I had not reveal that, I was part of the party in doing my community service. Well, my intention is to help, no matter, which part I am at, somewhat if you guys are not supporting the party, or we have different views? I still respect it, so just have the basic dilligent to know what is to be known and mention as I did not mention anything about me belonging to the party, it is that, a friend of mine, just tagged a pic of me with the the party tee-shirt.

Last, I hope I am not thinking too much. Probably, you guys like to stick to the same stick group. However, please don't mention that you guys will call me to join to all to study, and in the end, I saw from the fb status - the place where you guys check in - when reflected, it just show how unwelcome I am, or just that the rest are too busy to contact me, or assume that I will be busy to reply? Well, I did not reply once. As my phone is silent, yet I know you guys might be expecting that I will not be coming?! Well, its all right cos its does not matter if I am welcome to the group?!

Though such details might place me into difficult situation if anyone mention happened to read this, yet in another presepective, I just wanna write them down, and not use my voice to argue things to make them ugly. Well, its all right if I am not important, cos it is a stage of life whereby people whom you think they are your friends will leave, or because you are different from them in terms of the party you support.

Its all right. Life goes on from here, no matter how tough and difficult things can be, I just hope to do well in things I do and my exam and not let negative things flood my minds as it keeps coming into my heads. Just simply hate it as it can't get away from me, though in the past, I might just want to end everything...But I know, life is precious!

April Movie Pick_ Let the Bullets Fly

Watching a movie is a luxury. Back in the early days, often, I watched movies in a group of 4 at least, yet often, we will go by the majority of the group of the final movie selection. Thus, it does bring some disappointment. Probably maybe, there are a couple of moments when you would like to watch a movie yet the rest are not interested, so what is the move?
Watch it alone.
Well, unless I wanted to watch it badly, I will enter the movie theatre and buy a single ticket, a coca cola and enjoy the rest of the movie on my own. It used to be such lonesome feeling, but, once you get used to such moments, it is a freedom. But this time round, this movie that I will be introducing was brought to my attention by a friend of mine with surprises.
Cast starring like Chow Yun Fat, Carina Lau, Ge You, Jiang Wen, the movie set in China during the warring 1920, notorious bandit chief Zhang (Jiang Wen) descends upon a remote provincial town posing as its new mayor, an identity that he had hijacked from Old Tang (Ge You) and his wife (Carina Lau) , himself, a small-time imposter.
Hell-bent on making a fast buck, Zhang soon meet his match in the tyrannical local gentry Huang Si Liang (Chow Yun Fat) as a deadly battle of wit and brutality ensues.
With no strong promotion in Singapore but something to highlight, this movie has hit the box- office in China with remarkable record-breaking of 7 Billion dollars. Let the Bullets Fly, a movie packed with laughter, and unexpected twists.

3.6 out of 5

The Courage Dairy - Episode 2

I was feeling weak when i heard my name is called " Jeffrey Lim" announced by one of the operation theatre staff. It was followed by " The operation is over" heard over my ears. At that moment, I was unable to move, too weak to even open my eyes. But I knew the nurses are pushing my bed from the major operation theatre to the ward. As the bed was moved to the high dependency ward (ICU unit), on the way along the corridor, my eyes were starring at me. In my heart, I knew how ugly I might look ... But I was mentally prepared as I knew the effects on my face as my surgeon (Dr Lye) did mention to me. The clock reflected is 5.15pm. It was rather a long operation, around 6 - 7.5 hours long. The back of my head was rather painful. I requested a nurse to move my head to the over side of the bed as the pain was unbearable. At the high dependency ward, it was like a war zone after the quake, nurses were busy monitoring the patients condition especially the elder patients who is next to me was depending on a tube to breathe. I was feeling rather sleepy after the operation. Closing my eyes to rest as I was also unable to move from the advice of the nurse who was checking my condition to ensure I was feeling all right. I can't talk, only murmured my words...even for a cup of water. Even when I realise that water was on the table near my bed, the time reflected on the clock is 7.05pm... My sisters who had just finish with their work was at the hopsital to visit me hours later. I was requesting for water as I was feeling rather thirsty. I was a long night. The only thing I can do is rest. Though I was eager to look at the mirror yet, I know, I can only do so probably when I discharge from SGH.

March Movie Picks_Rango

Whenever I am lost in the next step to take in life or need inspiration at a moment of my life, watching a movie does help. Whether you have a partner or friend to watch it with you, or the seat next to you is empty, it does not matter. Most importantly, I can have the luxury to choose the settings I wanted.

This week, my pick is Rango.

From the director of "The Pirates of the Caribbean" comes Rango, featuring Johnny Depp in an original animated comedy-adventure that take moviegoers for a hilarious and heartfelt walk in the Wild West.

The story follows the comical, transformative journey of Rango (by Johnny Depp), a sheltered lizard living as an ordinary family pet, while facing a major identity crisis. After all, how high can he aim when his whole purpose in life is to blend in?

When Rango accidentally winds up in the gritty, gun-slinging town of Dirt - a lawless outpost populated by the desert's most wily and whimsical creatures - the less-than-courageous lizard suddenly finds he stands out. Welcomed as the last hope the town has been waiting for, new Sheriff Rango is forced to play his new to the hilt. Until, in a blaze of action-packed situations and encounters with outrageous characters, Rango starts to become the hero he once only pretended to be.

With a cast that include Depp, Isla Fisher, Abigail Breslin, Alfred Molina, Bill Night, Harry Dean stanton, Ray Winstone, and Timothy Olyphant as the Spirit of the West, Rango is an exciting new twist on the classic Western legend of the outsider who saves a town and himself in the process of knowing his real purpose and identity in life.

Personal Opinion:
This is the fourth movie for the month of March, love it because it does highlight the importance of having fresh water and we need to conserve our water supply which many people at the other parts of the world faces such problem of lacking of water.

Though it was a serious issue, yet, it was presented in an animated and colurful way with 4 little owls singing at different turning points of the story, a good way to draw attention and educate viewers.

Definitely, a 4 out of 5.

Genre: Action, Adventure, Animation
Language: English
Main Cast: Johnny Depp, Isla Fisher, Abigail Breslin, Alfred Molina, Bill Nighy, Harry Dean Staton, Ray Winstone, Timothy Olyphant
Running Time: 107 Minutes

March Movie Picks_Big Mommas

Big Momma is back, starring Martin Lawrence as FBI agent, Malcolm Turner and as Turners deep-cover alter-ego "Big Momma." But this time, Turner is joined by his teenage stepson, Trent, as they go undercover at an all-girls performing arts schools after Trent Turner has witness a murder. Posing as the Big Momma and as Hefty coed Charmaine, they must find the murder before he finds them.

The success of the first two "Big Momma" films led to this third offering, but Martin Lawrence, David T. Friendly (Producer), John Whitesell (Director) and screenwriter, Matthew Fogel wanted the new film to reinvent the franchise, and not merely continue a successful formula. In doing so, they opened the film up to an audience largely untapped in the first two films: teens. Essentially, as Friendly notes, " we're starting over and making something that is not a shadow of the first two films."

The film is set in equally surprising setting: an all girls' high school, and several music and dance sequences feature not only Lawrence and Jackson, but also a talented ensemble of bright young stars.

Watch it! You will love it!

3.5 out of 5

March Movie Picks_Gnomeo and Juliet

The greatest story ever told starring garden gnomes!

In Gnomeo and Juliet, Shakespeare's revered tale gets a comical, off-the-wall makeover. Directed by Kelly Asbury (co-director of Shrek 2) and showcasing both classic and original songs by Elton John, the film features the voices of James McAvoy and Emily Blunt as Gnomeo and Juliet, who have as many obstacles to overcome as their quasi namesakes when they are caught up in a feud between neighbours.

But with plastic pink flamingos and thrilling lawnmower races in the mix, can this young couple find a happy ending? Will they live happily ever after? Or will Juliet will be separated from Gnomeo because of their colour they represent?
